Two goals in as many minutes saw Brentford gain a deserved win away from home for the first time since October.

Brian Tinnion provided Lee Peacock with City's first good attempt on goal when his header hit against the Bees post on three minutes, but Dobson cleared to safety at the second attempt. Micky Bell found Peacock again just a few moments and forced Smith into another good save, The Bees goalkeeper palming away his fierce shot.
Brentford forced their first real attack on twenty five minutes, Paul Evans intercepting a throw from City keeper Steve Phillips to whip the ball in to cause havoc in the Robins penalty area.
Martin Rowlands was the first player to go in Dermot Gallagher's book in the 36th minute, for a foul on Joe Burnell.
Brentford nearly took the lead against the run of play six minutes before half time. Ben Burgess fed Hunt on the far side and the Irishman's shot was turned away for a corner.

A two minute spell from Brentford saw brentford go two up and Ben Burgess was instrumental in both goal. On 53 minutes, the Buxton born forward headed on to Martin Rowlands, whose fantastic twenty yard volley nestled in the left hand side of the post and just two minutes later Burgess played a great ball through the centre to Lloyd Owusu, who cooly tucked it past Phillips for his sixteenth of the season.

Bristol City threw on Matthews and Doherty to bring life in to the shaken City side. Ijah Anderson was booked for dissent after Referee Gallagher judged Steve Sidwell was not worthy of treatment despite having gone down injured. Sidwell himself went close on 72 minutes, his rasping thirty yarder going just wide of the post.
With four minutes left, Paul Evans gave away a freekick for handball and Doherty swung in a dangerous ball which hit substitute Steve Jones and flew toward the Bees goal but Smith instinctively pushed it away.
Stephen Hunt was guilty of blazing over the bar, Burgess again the provider but it mattered not as Brentford wrapped up all three points.
