Super cool Steve Sidwell gave Brentford all three points in a nail baiting match at Griffin Park
. His strike in the 67th minutes was the difference between two sides after The Bees survived a shaky first half to claw their way back into the match and nestle closly behind the chasing pack.
The turning point was the sending off of City's Icelandic International Arnar Gunnlaugsson for lashing out at Martin Rowlands, Paul Evans quickly stepping in to calm Rowlands down afterwards, as he too would have joined him into the dressing room.
Deon Burton was guitly of missing three guilt edge chances, the first of which on eight minutes was a poor lob over Smith when it looked easier to score.
In the second half, attacking the home end, The Bees looked composed and ogt their reward on 67 minutes. Stoke keeper Neil Cutler raced out of goal amd with Kevin O'connor
advancing, made a hash of things and the ball fell neatly to Sidwell, who looked up and stroked the ball in from 30 yards.
The remainder of the match was tense, and Brentford survived a scare in the dying moments when that man Sidwell cleared off the line from Stefan Thordarson's header.
Brentford harried the potters, it's now time to shake up the Shakers on Monday.
