Brentford battered Huddersfield in a 13 minute spell which left The Bees three goals to the good by half time.
Ben Burgess made a suprise return to the first eleven after recovering from a hamstring injury to bolster the Brentford attack, with Darren Powell resuming in the heart of the defence after three weeks on the sidelines.
Town's Leon Knight thought he had snatched a lead with a defelcted toe poke but was ruled offside. Moments later, The Bees took the lead, Lloyd Owusu pouncing on a great delivery from a Paul Evans free-kick for his 21st goal of the season.
Lloyd then turned provider for Steven Sidwell to slot home The Bees second eight minutes later and it was all over bar the shouting when Martin Rowlands got Brentford's third with five minutes of the half remaining.
After the half time break, Evans nearly added a forth but his precision free-kick hit the bar and The Terriers cleared to safety.
Such was Brentford's dominance that Town were reduced to that offside effort in the first half as their only attack of the game.
An added bonus to The Bees was no further bookings and a trip to Loftus Road, home of Queens Park Rangers, awaits them next week.
