Brentford slumped to a three-nil defeat at a sunny Griffin Park
With Andrew Frampton and Stephen Hunt injured, Wally Downes picked Jay Tabb in midfield with Stephen Evans on the subs bench. Debutant Tony Rougier gave Brentford a much-needed presence up front, holding the ball up well with supply from the flanks.
Peterborough United took the lead after just two minutes. Found a gap on the left-hand side - Posh striker Andy Clarke found space to fire home with Bees goalkeeper Paul Smith advancing.
The Bees' best opening came with seconds left of the half remaining. Jay Tabb's lofted ball in the penalty area caught the Posh defence by surprise with Mark Peters sprinting through. Peters waited for the ball to land for a first-time volley, but he miss-hit his shot and Posh goalkeeper Tyler gathered.
Peterborough doubled their lead three minutes after the break. A floated corner from right taken by Matthew Gill - Mark Arber's left-footed shot beat Smith from six yards.
Brentford best chance of the game was Kevin 'Connor's right-footed shot that hit the post with five minutes left. Three minutes into injury-time Andre Boucaud lofted the ball over smith from twenty yards to give Peterborough a deserved victory.
