Brentford's search for a win went on as Crewe Alexandra came to Griffin Park and left with all three points after a comfortable 4-0 win.
A goal from Luke Varney early on and three second half strikes in the space of nine minutes did for The Bees.
Brentford actually started the brighter and could have considered themselves unlucky to be behind after the first 30 minutes.
Sam Tillen was unable to turn a Paul Brooker cross goal ward inside the first 30 seconds and Chris Moore missed a great chance after three minutes when he fought off the attention of Daniel O'Donnell but pulled his shot wide from the edge of the box.
And Varney made Brentford pay when he gave the visitors the lead a minute later.
Crewe worked the ball to the right edge of the box, presenting a shooting opportunity for Rodney Jack, Clark Masters turned his shot away but Varney was lurking and slotted home.
But Brentford continued to hold the upper hand, Darius Charles fired a shot narrowly over and Kevin O'Connor volleyed wide.
Thomas Pinault looked like bringing The Bees level when he lashed in a volley that was arrowing towards the bottom corner before it hit Clyde Wijnhard.
And Crewe made Brentford pay for not scoring while they were on top.
Varney headed over from six yards out and Luke Rodgers shot wide after fine work from the goal scorer.
Andrew Frampton produced a last ditch block to deny Varney again and Charles blocked well from a Rodgers volley.
After half time Crewe's football proved too much for The Bees and they continued to pile forward.
Masters produced a great save to deny Rodgers but he could do nothing when Ben Rix let fly from 25 yards, the ball curving past the young goalkeeper and into the net.
Five minutes later Varney ran onto a through ball from Rodgers to strike unerringly past Masters to make it 3-0.
And David Vaughan lashed home a fourth four minutes later to complete a disappointing afternoon.
Jo Kuffour did his best to try and give The Bees fans something to cheer, bringing two solid saves from Stuart Tomlinson.
But it was Crewe who finished on top and it took a fine tackle from Frampton to prevent Rodgers going clear and adding a fifth.
