BRENTFORD 0 ROTHERHAM UNITED 1

A solitary Delroy Facey strike was enough to condemn Brentford to another defeat as Rotherham United won 1-0 at Griffin Park.

The powerful front-man proved too strong for Andrew Frampton as he latched on to a long Stephen Brogan pass and he blasted the ball past Nathan Abbey.

The 13th minute goal gave The Millers all three points as, despite creating a few chances, Brentford couldn't force a way back into the game.

Michael Leary came close to an equaliser with a curled effort, which Neil Cutler saved high to his left, and Neil Shipperley headed wide at full stretch when Cutler made a mess of a Frampton cross.

Paul Brooker pulled a cross-cum-shot narrowly wide after a fine run and David Worrell headed a Shipperley cross away at full stretch as Charlie Ide prepared to head in.

Ian Henderson could have given Rotherham a two-goal lead just before the break when he picked up a Garry Richards back pass but Abbey saved well.

And Ian Sharps had a goal ruled out after the break as he pushed Frampton when heading home a Liam King free kick.

Joe Keith's set pieced almost created an equaliser for Shipperley but he headed one wide and another straight at Cutler.

The introduction of Lloyd Owusu after 11 months out with a groin injury gave The Bees added impetus and he almost scored with his first touch, forcing Cutler to save his header from a Brooker corner.

And moments later Cutler denied him again as he volleyed a Richards nod-down towards goal.

Frampton and Richards headed wide when well placed but the visitors were soon back in the ascendancy.

Craig Fleming headed wide when it seemed easier to score and Kevin O'Connor produced a brilliant last-ditch tackle to prevent Henderson striking a second goal.

Abbey saved well from Martin Woods and Facey blazed over from 20 yards but it was his early goal that divided the teams in the final reckoning.
