Brentford's penultimate away match ended with a disappointing defeat as two second half goals helped Lincoln City to a 3-1 win.
The home side had taken a first half lead thanks to a bizarre Gary King goal but Nathan Elder had levelled things moments before half time.
But the home side wrapped up the win with a Jamie Forrester free kick and a late Lee Frecklington header.
The Bees were below par but still had the chances to win the game, and they could have been two up inside the first five minutes.
Ayden Duffy in the home goal managed to turn an Alan Connell shot round the post and saved well from an Elder header from the resulting corner before Wayne Brown pulled a shot across the face of goal soon after.
After the bright start from the visitors it was Lincoln who had the better openings in the first half hour, Lee Beevers blazed over from 12 yards, Simon Brown tipped a Louis Dodds effort over the top and Forrester shot over soon after.
Frecklington blasted over from distance and bobbled a shot wide soon after before Dodds rattled the woodwork with a fierce shot from 20 yards.
Brentford looked as if they had weathered the storm before they handed the home side the lead when a King shot went through the arms of Simon Brown and rolled agonisingly over the line.
Dodds almost doubled the lead when he fizzed a shot wide but Brentford were level before the break when a Kevin O'Connor ball caught the home defence square and Elder nipped in to head past Duffy.
Buoyed by the equaliser Brentford started the second half brightly, Duffy saved well from Poole when the midfielder burst into the box, although he may have got a penalty as it appeared Beevers pulled him back as he shot.
Paul Green blocked a goal bound Poole volley and Duffy saved well from the same man soon after while Brown turned a Frecklington shot away at the other end.
It looked as if The Bees would get the next goal but they were made to rue the missed chances when Lincoln edged ahead.
Referee Carl Boyeson penalised John Mousinho for a foul on Forrester when it looked as if he had won the ball and the former Leeds United striker placed the free kick from an inch outside the box into the corner of Simon Brown's net.
Brentford tried to fight back, Ricky Shakes shot over and Mousinho volleyed straight at Duffy but Frecklington sealed the win when he stole in to head a Green cross past Simon Brown from ten yards.
And substitute Owain Warlow could have added a fourth in stoppage time with a fierce low shot but the Brentford goalkeeper was equal to it and kept the score to 3-1.
