Dagenham and Redbridge scored three times in 12 second half minutes as Brentford were beaten 4-1 in east London.
The Bees preparations were interrupted when they arrived at The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Stadium at 7.20pm.
But they started well only to concede the first goal and the home side scored their three between the 56th and 68th minutes to seal the win.
Brentford started well, they had the better of the first 15 minutes, winning the second balls and forcing the home side back.
They didn't create many chances but had all the attacking play.
Karleigh Osborne had the first sight of goal when he headed a Kevin O'Connor corner wide but it was the home side who took the lead.
Damian Scannell could have scored when he cut inside but Osborne blocked well, Brentford, however, could not clear.
Scannell put the ball back in, goalkeeper Simon Royce came to meet the ball low down but his attempt to clear hit Jon Nurse and rolled in to the net.
Gary Alexander volleyed wide on the stretch and new signing Nicholas Bignall headed wide but Dagenham had the momentum as the game headed towards the half hour.
Scannell should have done better than head across goal when well placed and Marvin Morgan hit the loose ball wide.
Peter Gain lifted an effort over from distance and Romain Vincelot headed wide after meeting a Scannell cross.
Royce made a good save from a deflected Scannell effort but Brentford could have gone in level.
Lewis Grabban headed wide at the near post and Tony Roberts saved at the feet of Charlie MacDonald when Grabban got away down the right.
And they came even closer seconds after the re-start - a long throw reached Grabban at the far post, the wide man fired in a shot that looked set for the net before Mark Arber blocked.
But it was Dagenham who got the second goal ten minutes into the second half.
After a spell of pressure that had seen the home side win a series of corners and push Brentford back, Gain swung over a corner and Osborne headed in to his own net.
Robbie Simpson was introduced soon after and with his direct running, coupled with Bignall doing the same on the other side, Brentford noticeably improved.
Alexander headed a Stephen Wright cross wide and Owain Tudur Jones saw a free kick deflected wide, but moments later the game was up.
Brentford had a corner that was half cleared and Gain beat O'Connor to the loose ball.
He set Scannell away down the left and he waited before picking out Nurse, who slotted in from close range.
Two minutes later it was four - the ball bobbled around near the Brentford by-line and was lifted into the box where Vincelot headed in.
Alexander shot over and Simpson failed to control a Bignall cut back when well placed as Brentford tried to find a goal.
Simpson headed straight at Roberts soon after and then forced the experienced goalkeeper to save low to his left.
Dagenham could have had five when they cut through the defence but Vincelot sliced his shot and substitute Medy Elito couldn't put it in.
Morgan shot over from close range while Sam Saunders saw a shot deflected wide.
Brentford should have scored when a corner was half cleared and reached MacDonald at the far post, Roberts made a fine save and as the ball bobbled around Tudur Jones couldn't force it in and Osborne's shot hit Pim Balkestein as it arrowed towards goal.
Roberts saved from Tudur Jones in the dying seconds, a deflected Craig Woodman free kick flew narrowly over and an Osborne header was cleared off the line.
Simpson came closest of all with a header from a Saunders corner that Darren Currie cleared off the line and Brentford finally scored with the last kick of the game.
Another Saunders corner reached MacDonald at the far post who volleyed in his ninth of the season.
But the whistle was blown seconds later and Brentford were beaten.
