The Brentford FC Community Sports Trust launched a new and improved Matchday Draw, now known as The Bees 50/50, at Griffin Park on Tuesday, 31st of January, at the home win against Aston Villa. The Bees 50/50 is going to allow fans to participate in a larger matchday charity lottery, generating more funds for the trust and offering an exciting new aspect to the matchday experience for fans, with larger cash and non-cash prizes up for grabs.
Supporters can still buy tickets at Griffin Park on matchday from designated kiosks and roaming sellers, but to make it even more convenient, card and contactless payments are now accepted. Screens around the stadium will show the 50/50 total growing over the course of the match as more people participate in the lottery. 50% of that total pot will be split among the lucky winners, with the remaining half going to the Sports Trust and, ultimately, back to into the community.
In addition to the improved in-stadium experience, the draw is now also available online, allowing anyone in the UK to participate in The Bees 50/50 matchday draw. Detailed information and sign-up is available at www.bees5050.com. Fans will need to create an online account, which will allow them to purchase tickets online on matchday. For those who would like to participate in every draw, there is the possibility to subscribe and be entered automatically. Subscribers get additional perks, with unique access to Brentford FC prizes such as signed merchandise, hospitality packages and tickets to Brentford FC events.
The total money raised and the lucky winners are announced at halftime in the stadium, online on the website and via social channels (see details below). The 50% that goes to the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust is invested in existing and future initiatives, and progress is shared with supporters and the wider community on a regular basis.
On Tuesday’s match, the total pot climbed to £1,152 generating £646.50 in prizes, as well as a signed ball, going to six lucky winners. This was the highest pot the trust has seen and the biggest payout to Bees fans. As more fans (at the stadium and online) get involved we will see larger total pots, larger prize pots and more money being raised for our Trust and community!
