Aaron Pierre said Brentford’s Development Squad “deserved” to beat Queens Park Rangers.
The Bees came back from 2-0 down to beat their rivals 4-2 in an Under-21 Professional Development League Two South fixture.
Aaron scored the equalising goal after Luke Norris had scored Brentford’s first, Antonio German and Jake Reeves scored the other two.
The powerful central defender said Brentford trailed to sloppy goals and they believed the words of Development Squad Manager Jon De Souza, who told the team at half time they would win if they carried on playing as they were.
“We deserved to win,” said Aaron, speaking exclusively to Bees Player after the match.
“Even though we conceded two goals early on, we had the desire to come back in the game.
“We knew that if we equalised, we would win the game.
“We were two down because we conceded sloppy goals.
“We had loads of chances early on but did not take them.
“At half time, Jon told us we did not deserve to be losing and if we carried on, we would get chances.”
Aaron joined The Bees in the summer of 2011 on a two-year Development Squad contract after leaving Fulham.
He said the appointment of Jon De Souza as full-time Development Squad Manager and having a larger group had helped everyone improve.
“The vibe around the squad is excellent,” he said.
“Having the Development Squad players as one training group is really good.
“We are training well, playing well, everything is looking positive.
“There have been massive improvements over the past year.”
