Development Squad central defender Alfie Mawson has joined Skrill Premier Welling United on loan for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old completed the move this morning and will join the South East London side until April 26 2014, when the Skrill Premier season ends.
It is Alfie’s third loan move of the campaign.
He played four games for Maidenhead United – who play in the Skrill South – having played nine in two spells at the Berkshire side last season.
He spent the Christmas period on loan at Luton Town, the Skrill Premier leaders, and played once for them.
Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Academy Director, said: “Alfie was in and around the starting XI at Luton, training in a high pressure professional environment, preparing for matches at a good standard.
“He had the added factor of being at a club pushing for promotion back to the Football League and preparing for games where there is a lot at stake.
“However, injury, being cup tied and the form of others meant he did not play many games.
“This loan spell should enable him to get more First Team football.
“It will also give him more experience outside of Brentford FC, which can only assist him.
“Alfie is at the stage where he needs to test himself in a First Team environment and this move will enable him to do that.”
Alfie is in the second year of a two-year Development Squad contract he signed in the summer of 2012 after excelling in Brentford’s Youth Team.
In an injury-hit 2012/13 season, Alfie played 11 games for The Bees in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South.
He has played ten Under-21 league games this term, scoring three times, and made his Brentford debut in the Capital One Cup defeat against Derby County in August.
