Farid El Alagui described Brentford’s 5-1 win over Crewe Alexandra as a “good day”.
The striker grabbed his first goals for Brentford in the win and set up one for fellow forward Clayton Donaldson, who also hit the net twice.
Farid said the partnership between the two was working well.
“When you are a striker, you score two goals and you win 5-1, that is a good day,” said Farid, speaking to Bees Player.
“Clayton got two goals too so it is a good day for our strikers.
“I am really glad for him.
“From the start of the summer I got on well with him.
“We are doing well, we try to play for each other, it is a good partnership.
“I was happy to set him up.
“I was pleased he took the chance.”
Brentford picked up their first win of the season in beating Crewe – they went 2-0 up early on and Farid, who scored the second, added a third before the break.
The visitors pulled one back after half time but Harlee Dean headed a fourth and Clayton Donaldson made it five.
Farid said it was important Brentford took their chances after failing to do so as they were beaten 3-1 by Yeovil Town on Tuesday.
“As a striker, when you get a chance, you have to take it,” he said.
“It is so important.
“If you don’t take them, you can get punished.
“We saw that on Tuesday.
“For the second I was lucky the ball dropped and I was in the right position.
“Every time the ball comes in the box, you have to get in the right position to score.”
Farid said Brentford put in a good performance against Crewe and also praised the Griffin Park crowd.
“It was a good performance, a good start,” said the striker.
“We spoke after the game on Tuesday, everyone was disappointed, we gave three goals away and missed a penalty.
“When you do that, you can’t expect to win a game.
“We tried to stop mistakes, put pressure on from the start and win the game.
“We did it well.
“We wanted to go for the fourth and fifth in the second half.
“Their goal wasn’t in our plan but we kept going.
“The atmosphere was impressive, it was noisy.
“The fans were great and I hope we will give them a lot of enjoyment this season.”
