Spanish attacking midfield player Jon Toral joins Brentford from Arsenal on season-long loan

Brentford have signed attacking midfield player Jon Toral on loan from Arsenal.

The 19-year-old linked up with The Bees this morning and has signed on loan for the duration of the 2014/15 season.

He joined the Premier League side from Barcelona in the summer of 2011 when he was just 16.

Jon turned professional around the time of his 17th birthday and has played for Arsenal at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level.

Jon, who can play in the centre of midfield or on either flank, scored six times in 20 Under-21 appearances for Arsenal last season after returning from injury in November and featured for The Gunners in their First Team pre-season game against Boreham Wood last month.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “Jon is a very talented attacking midfield player.

“He is strong and powerful.

“Jon has come through a couple of nasty injuries, it is great to see him fully fit and he can now start to show his undoubted potential.

“We are thankful that Arsenal have given us this opportunity.

“Jon has come here to push hard for a place in the squad and the first XI.

“He is an excellent addition to our group.

“This is a sign of the relationship we have with Arsenal and our continuing desire to add quality to our playing squad.”

Jon will wear the number 17 shirt this season.
