Development Squad striker Luke joins Cobblers on loan

Development Squad striker Luke Norris has joined Sky Bet League Two Northampton Town on loan.
The 20-year-old linked up with The Cobblers this morning and has signed a deal to stay at Sixfields Stadium until November 16.
He will be available for Northampton’s League Two game against Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow, Saturday October 19, and will link up with Brentford winger Stuart Dallas, who is also at Sixfields on loan.
Luke, who is on a Development Squad contract, has played three games for Brentford’s First Team this season and scored in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win over AFC Wimbledon.
He has scored one in four games for the Development Squad in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South this season.
This will be Luke’s second loan spell; he spent time at Boreham Wood during the Christmas period last season.
Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Academy Director, said: “Luke has been in and around the First Team group this season and has performed well.
“Northampton offered him a chance for a more regular shot at competitive Football League action and it will be great for his development.
“Luke is as fit as he has ever been and his ability to score goals in Academy football has never been in doubt, we will now see if he can do it at League Two level.
“He can go to a good club and get used to playing at Football League level.
“We will keep a close eye on him and look forward to seeing him continue to improve.”
Luke has been at Brentford since the summer of 2010, when he signed a scholarship.
He turned professional in the summer of 2012 after excelling in the Youth Team and signed a new one-year Development Squad contract in the summer.
The striker finished as Brentford’s top scorer in the Professional Development League last season, hitting ten goals in 18 games.
Luke played seven games for Boreham Wood in the Conference South last season, scoring three goals.
He made his Brentford debut as a 17-year-old in April 2011 when he was a first-year scholar and has made five First Team appearances in total, scoring once.
