Young defender signs a new loan deal

Development Squad central defender Alfie Mawson has signed on for another loan spell at Maidenhead United.
Alfie played nine games for Maidenhead – who play in the Skrill South, the new name for the Conference South – in two spells last season.
He has signed a new Youth Loan agreement with the Berkshire club which will begin today and run until October 29.
Under the terms of his Youth Loan Alfie can still play for Brentford’s Development Squad when required.
Alfie, 19, is in the second year of a two-year Development Squad contract he signed last summer after excelling in Brentford’s Youth Team.
In an injury-hit 2012/13 season, Alfie played 11 games for The Bees in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South.
He has played three games this term, scoring once.
He also made his First Team debut in the Capital One Cup tie defeat against Derby County in August.
Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Academy Director, said: “Alfie’s time at Maidenhead last season was good for his development.
“He got used to playing competitive men’s football week in week out and got used to the rough and tumble of non-league football.
“He has had a good pre-season, as well as a taste of First Team football, and can now go out and play lots of games at a good level again.
“Maidenhead are a good club and play a similar style of football to the one we do in our Academy so it is a good fit for Alfie.
“We will keep a close eye on him and look forward to seeing him continue to improve.”
