Sky Bet League One match at Bramall Lane called off as pitch is waterlogged

Brentford’s Sky Bet League One match against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane this evening, Wednesday February 12, has been postponed following a 1pm pitch inspection.

Continued rainfall over the past few days as well as snow showers yesterday, Tuesday, left the Bramall Lane surface saturated.

The pitch was playable at 10am – when inspected by Brentford Manager Mark Warburton, Brentford Assistant Manager David Weir and Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough – albeit with a few damp patches, after a dry night but recent rain has fallen in the area of Bramall Lane for the past few hours and left the pitch waterlogged.

Local referee Michael Naylor visited at 1pm and called the game off.

He spoke to Sheffield United after the postponement and you can listen to the interview here

Details on when the game will be played will follow on in due course.
