The funeral of Tommy Higginson, the club's legendary footballer from the 1960s, is being held today [Monday].

Brentford fans have been invited to attend the service by Tommy's family, which will be held at Hanworth Crematorium in Middlesex at 3.40pm.

The family have also said supporters are welcome to wear red and white striped Brentford shirts to mark the passing of one of the Club's all-time greats.

Tommy joined Brentford from Kilmarnock in 1959, initially as an inside forward.

He finished his Brentford career in 1970 with 388 Football League appearances under his belt and 433 in all competitions - he also scored 15 goals for The Bees.

When Tommy left Griffin Park to join Hillingdon Borough he was second on the Club's all-time appearance list and at present only four men - Ken Coote, Jamie Bates, Peter Gelson and Kevin O'Connor - have played more games for the club.
