Boss commits to Bees

Brentford Football Club is delighted to announce Manager Uwe Rösler has signed an extension to his contract.

The new deal will run for two years from this summer and will expire at the end of the 2014/15 season.

Uwe was appointed Brentford Manager in the summer of 2011 having previously worked in Norway, managing Lillestrøm SK, Viking FK, better known as Viking Stavanger, and Molde FK.

In his first season at the helm, Brentford finished ninth in npower League One, three places and six points outside the Play-Off places.

The Bees also reached the Southern Section Semi-Final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Having revamped his squad over the past two seasons – only five members of the current First Team group were at the Club in May 2011 – Uwe has led Brentford to fourth in the npower League One standings, with a game in hand on the teams above them.

The Bees have the best home record in League One and no team in the Football League has lost fewer league games than Brentford’s three this term – Uwe’s side are also still in the FA Cup with Budweiser.

Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, said: “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am delighted to confirm that Uwe has signed a new contract extension and committed himself to Brentford Football Club until May 2015.

“The Club has embarked on an exciting new journey, which has seen significant investment in upgrading our Academy and land bought for a new stadium.

“Uwe has now been able to shape his squad to reflect the type of football he wants to see played and this season, particularly, we can all see the impact that Uwe and his back room staff have made.

“It is a pleasure to work with Uwe whom, not only has a first class understanding of the game of football, but also understands the business of football and the long term plans and ambitions of the owner and the Board.

“This is further very positive news and it is an exciting time to be a Bees supporter.

Uwe said: “It is very exciting to be part of Brentford Football Club.

“There has been a lot of progress made in the past 18 months.

“I have seen commitment from Sporting Director Mark Warburton, from back room staff, who have been approached to move to Championship clubs and who have opted to stay with us, and from players, who are signing new contracts.

“It was a no brainer for me to stay here and be part of an exciting future for the Club.

“I can see the commitment from the owner and the Board of Directors to take the Club where we want to take it.

“And that is not just short term commitment.

“It is an honour and a privilege to lead the Club for the next two years.

“The Club has moved on enormously in the past 18 months, in all areas.

“We have changed the playing squad almost entirely and results are going in the right direction at the moment.

“In the FA Cup we have a home game where we have the possibility to progress further.

“The Academy has progressed massively in the past two years.

“The Club is going forward and any ambitious person would want to be a part of that.

“There are lots of ambitious people around me and we all want to be part of something special.

“I am confident we can achieve the goals set by the owner and I believe I can achieve my personal goals.”
