Alan was the runner up in last season's Player of the Year awards after a season in which he was inspirational throughout and signed a permanent deal in July of this year.
The commending central defender enjoyed a fruitful career with his native Cork City for seven years before signing for Reading in January 2007. Whilst not adding to his appearances there he went on loan to Southampton before he was snapped up by The Bees for a loan deal in March 2008. This was extended for the whole of the 2008/09 season which culminated in him lifting the championship trophy as captain.
