Brentford manager Andy Scott has today confirmed his seventh signing of the summer - midfielder Marvin Williams from League One side Yeovil Town for an undisclosed fee.
Marvin has signed an initial one-year deal effective from July 1st 2008, and will join his new team-mates at the Osterley Park training ground for the first day of pre-season training on Monday.
The 20 year-old came through the academy system at Millwall and made his full League debut in December 2005. He made ten starts for the Lions in 2005/06, scoring five goals and making a big impression at the New Den.
He also scored in a 1-1 draw with Everton in the FA Cup in 2006.
He featured twice in a short loan spell at Torquay in 2006/07, scoring once, before moving to Yeovil in time for the start of last season.
However having initially featured regularly for the Glovers, he suffered an ankle injury and on his return was unable to break back into the side.
In an exclusive interview to be posted on this website later on this afternoon, Andy Scott said:
"Marvin is another player that I've been tracking for a while. I watched him several times the season before last when he was at Millwall and he's quick, direct and can play either wide on the right or up front.
"He's a young lad with a lot of potential and hopefully he can progress with us".
Speaking exclusively to brentfordfc.co.uk on Friday morning, Marvin said:
"I met up with the gaffer last week and we had a chat - he told me his ambitions for the Club and what he wanted from me. To be honest it was a no-brainer for me to sign - he wants success and so do I.
"From a personal point of view it also makes sense as I'm a London boy, and was keen to move closer. I've got a baby on the way too, so it makes sense for me to be a bit closer to home. I've got some great friends at Yeovil and I can't speak highly enough of the club, but sometimes things just don't work out and I wish them the best of luck for next season.
"My personal targets for next season are to play as many games as I can, and to score goals. I'm quick, I can get past players and get crosses in from the right side of midfield. I just want to play football, and I'm certain I can be an asset to this team."
