SCOTT PRAISES BEES' DETERMINATION
Brentford manager Andy Scott hailed his players battling qualities as they withstood a barrage of Barnet pressure to record a 1-0 win.
The west London Bees took the points thanks to a first half Glenn Poole spot kick but were thankful to a super penalty save by Ben Hamer early in the second period.
Scott admitted his team had not "got going" after half time but was pleased with their first half showing, and the way they ground out the win.
"In this league you will have to go to places, win 1-0 and do it scrappily," he said.
"We were excellent first half and we could have been a couple ahead.
"Fair play to Barnet, they came out in the second half and had a real go, they turn around and get at you.
"We are a young, developing side and I thought we played reasonably well.
"We made a few mistakes, we are not where we want to be but you can see when we get it right we will be a decent side.
"We need 90 minute performances but if players are prepared to battle and fight for each other like we did second half you have the right set of boys."
Scott also paid tribute to the travelling supporters, who made up around 40 per cent of the total attendance at Underhill.
"The fans were fantastic once again," he said. "They deserved another win, another clean sheet and they deserve boys wearing the shirt with pride and determination."
