Brentford goalkeeper Ben Hamer said he knew exactly where Barnet wide man Albert Adomah was going to put his penalty in Brentford's 1-0 victory at Underhill - and that was why he saved it.

Hamer helped The Bees to three points in North London by turning Adomah's spot kick away early in the second half and producing a number of other fine saves and said he and his team mates were very happy with the result.

And left sided defender Brett Johnson, who won the penalty - converted by Glenn Poole - which secured the points, also paid tribute to his team mates after the away win.

Hamer, who has now kept clean sheets in his last two outings, said he felt Brentford were on top in the first half and ground out the three points in the second, helped by his penalty save.

"He made it obvious to me what he was going to do," explained Hamer. "I knew he was going there so I dived early.

Hamer Saves

"I like to stay big [when facing penalties], I don't like to go early, you have to be lucky sometimes but I like to think i can read the players.

"I think I have saved four in six in my career."

Hamer was full of praise for the work of his team mates to secure the win and said it was a team effort.

"They were pumping balls down our throats," he said. "It's great credit to the defence we dealt so well with it."

Left back Johnson also emphasised that every player deserved praise for the win and said the start of his Brentford career "couldn't have been any better".

Brett Johnson

"To come away with a 1-0 win is very pleasing for me and the team," said Johnson. "The boys really dug in.

"It starts from the front, the midfield did their bit, the defence too and Ben savd a penalty, it's very pleasing.

"I came here hoping to break into the team, to get in and start helping the team is great.

"The more I play the more the fans will see I can get forward and have an impact further up the pitch."
