He was asked about last Saturday`s performance against Barnet. He replied: "Our first half performance was very good, we created quite a few chances and had sustained pressure on their goal. But we weren't able to get the second goal and that left us a little bit vulnerable because they started very well in the second half. We kept a clean sheet which was very, very important - another one after the Grimsby game. It was a different kind of clean sheet though. We had to put our bodies on the line and Ben had to make a few saves, but you're going to have to do that in this league, and it is pleasing that we showed we are capable of doing it."

He was then asked about grinding out results as he had spoken of such the previous week. Andy said: "It didn't look like that at half time - it looked like we could have kicked on and maybe if we had got the second goal before half time it would have been a lot more comfortable and we would have won more easily. But you need the second goal to really keep the pressure on the other team and we weren't able to do that so certainly after the second half it looked like we had to grid it out. But overall, I've watched the video again a couple of times and they had several chances but they didn't have sustained pressure on our goal in our half. We had several good chances in the second half as well, but we weren't able to take them so whenever it's 1-0 it looks like it's going to be dodgy and a mistake can cost you, but we were able to fortunately keep out their strikers, defended as a team and put our bodies on the line and work very, very hard for each other and that was very pleasing."

It was then put to Andy that Glenn Poole`s performance in particular was up with his best of last season. Andy replied: "Even at the end of last season, he was determined to come back and be a better, stronger, fitter player. He knew there were aspects of his game he needed to improve on and he's tried to do that in pre season and certainly he's grown in confidence, and certainly from being top scorer last season he wants to take that into this year and do very well for himself, and he's a really highly motivated lad, as all of them are but he really wants to do well and he's bought his form from last year into this year."

He was then asked about the supporters performance at Barnet and the effect it has on the players. " It was massive and I've said it before they came last year to Barnet and the atmosphere was terrific and was generated by Brentford fans. And the same last week, they can't be underestimated and the effect they have on the team, they have a great influence. The noise and atmosphere generated by them is fantastic - it lifts the lads, it inspires us to go on and perform well for them and each other because they need to show they take pride in wearing the shirt. The fans want to see that, the players want to give that to the fans and they want to show each other that they're in it together and we're a Club that's not just a team of players, but a Club that includes the fans, management, players - everybody, and we're in it together, and can be a success together."

He was asked about this week`s opposition, Rotherham, and the fact that they had started so well. Had they been underestimated by some? Andy said: "Possibly. I know Mark Robins very well and he would have galvanised the side and used the points deficit and made it into a positive that can unite them a little bit more. It looks like that in the first 5 games, the first three league games and two cup games that they've shown they can be a decent side this year. We always expect a tough game against Rotherham and last season they were up in the play offs before they got their points deducted and that hit them hard but they're a decent side and we expect a really hard game on Saturday."

Injury wise, Andy was asked, are you nearly there with a full squad to choose from for Saturday? He said: "No, not yet. We're still waiting on Gary Smith to come back training, and Sam Wood is still feeling a little bit of a niggle in his ankle from the Bury game. Ryan Dickson has been training and there are good signs, and we're hoping they can improve their fitness over the next week or so and then be involved with the squad. We're nearly there but not quite there, but we're a lot closer than a few weeks ago."

Finally it was put to Andy that the squad, the fans, the Club in general are enjoying a buoyant sense of optimism this season to what does he credit this. Andy said: "We talked about it in pre season and they've come in and worked very hard. They've realised it's a good set of players here and we're going the right way about it. It could have dented our confidence after the Bury and Swansea game but really it's something we've got over and we know we're better than that and we needed to show it. We did that against Grimsby and we've taken that into the Barnet game. You know it's a great place to be. The players enjoy coming to training, which is very, very important and they like working hard, and know why they're doing it. It makes it a lot better when you're getting the results on a Saturday. It's a great place to be at the moment, but that needs to continue and if things are going great we can build on that. If things take a dip, the lads we've got here can fight through it and come through the other side and get some more results."
