DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE PREVIEW
THE MATCH
Brentford v Dagenham and Redbridge, Coca-Cola League Two, Griffin Park, September 6 2008
THE OPPOSITION
Dagenham and Redbridge have made a fantastic start to the season and currently lead the way in League Two.
They needed victories in the last two games of last season to ensure they were not relegated in their first season in the Football League and have continued that run.
They opened the season with a 6-0 thrashing of Chester City and have followed that with wins at Lincoln City and Morecambe and a home draw with Port Vale.
They also pushed Reading close in the First Round of the Carling Cup and beat Barnet 4-2 in the First Round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
THE MANAGER
John Still has been manager of Dagenham and Redbridge since April 2004, having previously managed Redbridge Forest, one of the clubs which merged to form The Daggers.
Having managed Barnet and Peterborough United and been assistant boss at Bristol Rovers he returned to east London and within three years led them to promotion to the league.
THE DANGER MAN
Paul Benson has five goals to his credit already this season including goals in The Daggers first three league games.
Only Reading and Morecambe have prevented the 28-year-old scoring against them this campaign and he got two in Tuesday's win over Barnet.
Benson was plucked from the Essex Intermediate League by Daggers' boss Still and notched 28 times as Dagenham won promotion to the league in 2006/07.
He missed a number of games through injury last season but is now fully fit and has made a fine start to the campaign.
THE FORMER BEE
None of the players pulling on Dagenham shirts on Saturday have previously played for The Bees.
The only recent link between the clubs was Chris Moore who signed for Brentford in the summer of 2006 from The Daggers but returned east when he was released by Scott Fitzgerald in January 2007.
He left Dagenham in the close season and is now at Chelmsford City.
THE ODDS
Brentford 11/10
Dagenham 12/5
Draw 12/5
