C.R.Y. (Cardiac Risk in the Young), Brentford's secondary Away Shirt Sponsors, launch, for the fourth consecutive year, their Raising Awareness Week today.

The Week, which will see many different events being organised throughout the country, is specifically designed as the title suggests to raise awareness of sudden death syndrome (SDS), specifically in the young (under 35).
At least eight young people die each week in the UK from undiagnosed cardiac conditions. CRY is a charity that aims to prevent these tragedies by raising awareness of the conditions that can lead to young sudden cardiac death, by operating a subsidised screening programme. CRY also offers a fast track service for bereaved families and offers support to young people diagnosed with a life threatening cardiac condition.
As Bees fans will know, our own Manager Andy Scott is a Patron of C.R.Y., having contacted them after his own football career was cut short having suffered hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a life threatening heart disorder, in April 2005.
Over the following week Andy will highlight a number of important issues concerning CRY and its ongoing campaign to make screening and research more readily available and indeed compulsory for all young people in this country.

Andy can be seen at the top of the page, prior to last week's match against Macclesfield Town, with the family of Tom Clabburn, a young Bees fan who died suddenly from an undiagnosed heart related condition last October aged just 14.
Look out for the C.R.Y logo on the back of Brentford's shirts in the televised League match against Notts County this coming Monday, 13th October (kick off 7.45pm) on Sky Sports
