Westside Community Radio, who are in partnership with the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust and can be found on 89.6FM, caught up with Bees Manager Andy Scott at the Training Ground yesterday, Thursday.

Luis Melville: Andy a bit of mixed week for the team. Firstly let's look at the game last Saturday. How would you sum up the performance against Macclesfield?

Andy Scott: It was a very good performance and another vital 3 points which is just what we needed to keep the momentum going.

LM: As far as the chances you created, I would imagine you were happy with that part but possibly due to the team not matching it with their finishing it made for a tense last 10 minutes?

AS: We created enough chances to go and win 2 or 3 games. Some missed opportunities and some good saves from Macclesfield's keeper made it a bit hairy towards the end. We need to finish teams off when we are dominating games and score more goals to make it more comfortable for ourselves but we are creating a lot of chances.

LM: Do you think it is just a matter of time that your good build up and link up play will be rewarded with a lot of goals?

AS: Yes, I think so. We very rarely missed the target on Saturday and we also hit the post. Their keeper made a couple of very good saves and at times we were fractions away from scoring but that is what we are dealing with and we have to be more ruthless in front of goal. But the lads realised that they have to make these chances count and be more clinical. If we can start doing that then we will give teams a hiding.

LM: Charlie MacDonald seems to be specialising in top class finishes. How important is he going to be your promotion aspirations?

AS: Charlie is a natural goal scorer. He is vital to us and he's been playing very well and his link up play is very good as well. He can score the extravagant goals but he is also a bit of a poacher who is a natural in the box. He's a big plus for us and we need to keep him fit and playing. But he's one part of a team that is performing very well at the moment.

LM: Your other striker Nathan Elder, he seems to be on the end of some uncompromising defending at the moment. How is he coping with that?

AS: You have to feel a bit sorry for Nathan really, because he's a big lad and with referee's you either get it one way or the other. They are either lenient with him because they think defenders are trying to batter him all over the pitch or that he is doing that to the opposition. He's had a bit of a rough ride recently and opposing defenders are trying to get on his back and make it really difficult for him but he has stuck to his task and done very well for us.

LM: If we can turn to the JPT game against Luton midweek, it must have been a frustrating and disappointing end to the game for you?

AS: It was. Going 2-0 up, we thought we could see the game out and we let in a poor goal just before half time which was unlike us. We let them get in too many crosses into our penalty area. Early in the second half they got their equaliser after which we had a good spell but they came back into it towards the end. It was a good exercise for me to see some of the players who hadn't played recently and see what they could do.

Unfortunately, it didn't work out for us by losing on penalties but it was a game that I wanted to win to go through to the next round with a chance to go to Wembley. Everyone was disappointed.

LM: You said that you were looking for a reaction from some of the players is that something you will be looking for when they come in for training?

AS: It's not a case of looking for anything different, just maybe for them to look at their attitudes in training and being prepared for games and to take their chance when they get it. Sam Wood took his chance when he played against Chesterfield at the last minute when he didn't think he would be playing. He also did well the other night. At any point during the week they could be called upon and they've got to show that they are good enough. I have proved it since I took over at this Club that I am not prepared to let people coast and enjoy the ride. They have got to contribute and I am confident that everyone in the squad can do that. It's about reinforcing what players need to do to be ready to play in the first team and perform.

LM: This weekend you don't have a game because you are playing on Monday night as the featured 'live' game on Sky Sports against Notts County. How will your preparations differ from normal?

AS: We'll train today (Thursday) which will be the equivalent of a Tuesday and have Friday off but then the squad will train Saturday and Sunday so we are ready to go for the game on Monday. The training remains the same we will just adapt the schedule leading up to the game. We've got a couple of knocks that we are dealing with and the extra few days will give us an opportunity to get them match fit.

LM: How is Glenn Poole shaping up after coming off with a knock on Tuesday?

AS: Glenn should be OK. He came off as a precaution on Tuesday but he should be fine.

LM: Finally, do you think that the extra media demands that come with a 'live' game will affect your own preparations leading up to the match?

AS: No. I've made it clear that the important thing for me is making sure that the team are well prepared. When the team go out for the warm up, I will have time for interviews but other than that I am fully focused on the team.

LM: Thanks for your time and good luck on Monday.
