NOTTS COUNTY PREVIEW
THE MATCH
Notts County v Brentford, Coca Cola League Two, Meadow Lane, October 13 2008
Kit to be worn: Away Kit Sponsored by MKT Computers and C-R-Y
THE OPPOSITION
Notts County were in danger of establishing themselves as the divisions draw specialists but are now heading towards the upper reaches of League Two.
After an opening day loss at Bradford City, The Magpies drew six league games on the bounce before wins over Aldershot and Port Vale in their last two outings.
They sit comfortably in midtable and know a win will catapult them into the play-off shake-up at this early stage of the season.
As with many draw specialist teams they do not score many goals, having not scored more than two in a game all season, and struggle to keep clean sheets, only preventing Darlington from scoring a League Two goal against them.
THE MANAGER
Ian McParland will celebrate his first anniversary as Notts County manager next Saturday, October 18.
The Scotsman spent eight years at the club as a player and also had spells at Northampton Town and Lincoln City.
He was at Nottingham Forest until August 2007 and had a spell as joint caretaker manager with Frank Barlow towards the end of the 2005/06 season.
McParland kept The Magpies up by the skin of their teeth last year, finishing six points above the drop zone, and will expect better this time around.
THE DANGER MAN
Richard Butcher is a name Brentford fans will already know as a late goal by the County midfield man denied The Bees a win at Meadow Lane last season.
The former Oldham Athletic and Peterborough United man notched 12 goals last season and already has four this campaign to be County's top scorer.
THE FORMER BEE
Despite a number of familiar names there will be no-one in the black and white of Notts County who has previously turned out for Brentford.
The Magpies have a midfielder called Jay Smith but it is the former Southend United man rather than the former Bees man.
They also have a Stephen Hunt, but he is a defender rather than a left winger.
THE ODDS
Notts County 6/4
Brentford 7/4
Draw 23/10
