Brentford top scorer Charlie MacDonald said he felt The Bees were better than fellow promotion chasers Darlington "in every department" after the 1-1 draw at Griffin Park.
The home side needed a last minute equaliser from Karleigh Osborne to take a point against The Quakers - who topped the table at the start of play - but dominated possession and territory throughout.
"They are top of the league for a reason," said MacDonald. "But we were better in every department.
"It looked like they had come for a draw but we made them defend a lot more.
"If they had won it would have been a travesty.
"If we had come away with nothing we would have been devastated - we are a little upset to only come away with a point but it will turn out to be a good point if we can get three on Tuesday at Luton."
Captain Kevin O'Connor said he felt his team should have won the game.

"They scored with their only chance and we have had a few opportunities but didn't score," he continued.
"We deserved what we got at the end and we could have won the game."
Goalscorer Osborne admitted culpability for Darlington's goal - as Richie Foran, who headed the visitors in front, was his man - but said he was claiming the equaliser.
"It was certainly a scrappy goal," said Osborne. "Sam Wood has put it in, the keeper had it then dropped it and and I have got a toe on it."

Osborne said he was hoping to keep producing the goods at right back, after two good performances since returning from loan spells at Oxford United and Eastbourne Borough, and to push The Bees up the table.
"I went on loan to get experience and games under my belt and I want to keep improving at Brentford," he continued.
"We should have been ahead at half time today," he added. "We controlled the game but we let in a sloppy goal and then managed to turn it around.
"We kept working to the end, we didn't get the result we wanted but we got a point."
