Andy Scott spoke to brentfordfc.co.uk this morning regarding ongoing negotiations with defender Alan Bennett, ahead of next season.
"I held a constructive meeting with Alan recently in Cork, and reaffirmed the Clubs commitment to building an exciting squad capable of genuinely competing in League One during the coming season.
"Alan seems keen to bring the matter of his future to a speedy conclusion, though we are respectful of his current position and fully understand that he has an obligation not just to himself but also his family to investigate all his options at this time.
"I am in no doubt that we have left Alan with no question of our ambitions for the future of Brentford Football Club and the part he can play. We left the meeting in an extremely positive mood and have agreed to sit back down with Alan on his return from Ireland this week."
Andy also gave his views on next season's fixture list.
"Whilst Carlisle might not appear the best way for us to open the season in terms of the distance we have to travel, I'd far rather make the journey on the 2nd Saturday in August than a wet Tuesday night in December!
"We are genuinely looking forward to all this season has to offer. The fixture list shows the strength of the sides we are going to encounter throughout the season, none more so than the first month in which we will play the three newcomers from the Championship, as well as other fancied teams such as Huddersfield and Brighton.
"With the big games coming thick and fast we will be calling once again on our support to be large and loud - it honestly makes a difference.
"December sees the start of another run of big games so there is plenty to look forward to throughout the season and I can assure you we have spent all summer working hard behind the scenes in preparation.
"I look forward to seeing you all very soon."
