Brentford manager Andy Scott has today completed the signing of central defender Leon Legge.

Leon has signed a one-year deal with the Bees, with a further one-year option.

24 year-old Leon spent last season playing at Tonbridge Angels in the Isthmian Premier Division, making 39 appearances and scoring ten goals in the process.

Speaking exclusively to brentfordfc.co.uk, Leon said:

"I've wanted to make the step up to league football for years, I've had plenty of trials over the years and it's brilliant that now I've achieved this. It's my birthday this week so it's the perfect present.

"I had a good season last year at centre-back and scored a few goals too - I didn't know it but the gaffer had watched me nine times overall so I must have been doing something right!

Leon met his new team-mates for the first time at the Osterley Park Training Ground on Tuesday, as the teams returned to pre-season training.

"They're a great bunch of lads and I can't wait for the season to start. I never thought that I could be playing against such high profile teams as Leeds and Charlton but I've worked hard and earned the opportunity. I actually spent a week training at Charlton a little while back and it gave me a taste for it - I'm looking forward to fighting for my place in the team.

In signing for Brentford, Leon will not only be making his Football League debut, but will also be turning professional - until last week he was working as Support Worker for adults with learning difficulties.

"I've been working full-time and had been juggling my training with Tonbridge around the job. On the one hand I'm sad to give it up as I enjoyed the job and found it very satisfying to be involved in - I was quite popular there too! However my dream was to become a professional footballer so there was no choice really.

"One of the guys I was assisting there is actually a Brentford supporter, so although he was sad to see me leave, he was happy to hear that I was joining his Club - although he's already asking me for signed shirts and tickets…!"
