Brentford manager Andy Scott said he was "absolutely delighted" with his team's performance in their 1-1 draw with Southampton and felt they could have won the match.

The Bees took a point from the south coast thanks to a late equaliser from winger Cleveland Taylor after Dan Harding had given the hosts the lead.

Scott said his side were defensively "good" and created chances.

"We threatened a hell of a lot," he continued. "And possibly we could have won it.

"I was disappointed to concede when we did but defensively we were good and we had a lot of opportunities.

"They had chances in the first half, but that's inevitable.

"We gave them a hell of a game and we had them on the back foot.

"Their players are good players, but we have good players too - they just haven't played at the higher levels yet.

"Alan [Pardew, Southampton manager,] said before the game that we were favourites but he was just taking the pressure off his players.

"They were worried and for 90 minutes we proved they had every right to be."

Scott hailed Ryan Dickson - who set up the equaliser for Taylor - and described him as the best left back in the division and said he told Taylor if he worked at Brentford he would end up with ten goals a season.

"I told [Cleveland] we would get him ten goals, ten assists and maybe a couple of headers.

"But I didn't fancy his chances after seeing him on Friday.

"I'm delighted for all the players, they deserved to get something out of the game."
