Experienced midfield player Kevin O'Connor said the Brentford players would probably consider the 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic as two points dropped.
O'Connor scored the opening goal in his 306th game for the club from the penalty spot after Sam Saunders had been brought down but Oldham snatched a point after a brilliant curling goal from Nick Blackman.
The stand-in skipper, who rose to 10th on Brentford's all-time league appearance list by starting the match, admitted there was a bit of disappointment at failing to win the game after being 1-0 up at half time.
"It's probably two points dropped," he said. "We are disappointed we haven't won.
"But in the scheme of things it could be a good point.
"We can't be too disappointed, we are still unbeaten, we have to stay positive.
"Oldham are a decent team, we have to take it as a positive."
O'Connor said he had a discussion with manager Andy Scott in the week and it was decided he would take on the penalty responsibility if Brentford got one.
"It was running through my mind what to do," he added. "I wanted to strike the ball well and keep it under the crossbar."
