Brentford attacker Myles Weston said he needed to keep producing performances when he came off the substitutes bench to try and force his way into the team.
The left sided player replaced Sam Wood in the 64th minute and scored The Bees' second goal in their 2-0 win over Stockport County five minutes later.
He also set up a golden opportunity for Carl Cort to make it three in the dying minutes and caused the County defence no end of problems with his pace and direct running.
Weston admitted it was an "important" win.
"The team were a bit anxious going into it," he continued. "We knew this was a winnable game, it's vital that we won it.
"We hadn't won for a while, the team wanted to win."
Weston said he tries to take his chance when he comes off the bench whether The Bees are winning or losing but admitted there was more space on the pitch because they were a goal up when he entered.
"When I come on I just try to get in the right position to create chances," he said.
"I don't want to be a sub but it's the manager's decision. When I come on it is my chance to prove I should be playing.
"If I am on the bench and come on every time and score I am stating something to the manager.
"I just want to play football when I come on I have to prove to the manager I'm ready to start."
