Brentford manager Andy Scott paid tribute to Blue Square Premier side Gateshead after they held his team to a 2-2 draw in an FA Cup First Round tie.
The north east side scored a 92nd minute equaliser to take the tie to a replay at Griffin Park.
Brentford seemed to have won it when they came from a goal down to lead thanks to strikes from Carl Cort and Kevin O'Connor but Peter Winn levelled it up in the dying seconds.
Scott said Gateshead were "excellent" and admitted he was happy his side were in the hat for the Second Round draw.
He continued: "Gateshead put us under pressure.
"It wasn't a great first half and I felt we needed to take responsibility a bit more.
"We did it in spells in the second half but not as much as we would like.
"But we are still in the draw, we are still in the FA Cup.
"We were better today but there is a lot of improvement and there is more to come from this group.
"We are getting there, but it is a slow process.
"The 15 minute spell after they scored was the best we played - we got the ball in good areas and scored two good goals.
"We had chances to get the third but we didn't take them
"We responded well after they scored and I was pleased with the way we did that but we didn't continue it."
Scott admitted he is very worried about how his team are defending set pieces after they conceded two more goals from dead ball situations.
"We haven't defended set pieces properly in recent weeks, there were two more today, that's the most disappointing thing.
"We need to have collective responsibility to make people do their jobs.
"We need to have the determination to keep the ball out of our goal.
"If you give teams too many chance you will be in trouble."
