STREVENS LIVES THE DREAM
Brentford striker Ben Strevens said the last few weeks have been "a dream" for him.
The 29-year-old made his Bees début in the 2-2 FA Cup draw at Gateshead on November 7 after breaking his leg a week before the start of the season.
In the last week he made his first start, and league début, against Millwall, followed that up with his first goal, in the replay against Gateshead, and his first league goal in the 1-1 draw with Walsall.
The striker - who headed in a Myles Weston cross to give The Bees the lead after just ten minutes - admitted the day would have been even better if Brentford had taken all three points.
"To get back in last week was a bit unexpected," he said. "To get my first goal and then first league goal was good.
"It would have been brilliant to get three points but you can't have everything.
"It's been a dream to get back and get off to a good start."
Strevens seemed to have won the game when he headed in with just three minutes remaining but the goal was ruled out for offside and the striker said his team mates warming up on the side told him he was probably just the wrong side of the defender.
"That would have been too much of a dream," he said. "But it's just one of those things but it's disappointing.
"If we had scored again before half time I like to think they wouldn't have scored two today.
"We are a bit disappointed but there are a lot of positives."
