LEGGE GIVES BOSS HEADACHE
Brentford defender Leon Legge said he hoped he had given manager Andy Scott something to think about after his Man of the Match display in the FA Cup Second Round victory over Walsall.
Legge - making his third appearance in a Brentford shirt - scored the only goal of the game, heading in a John Bostock corner, and gave an assured display at the back, including one goal saving tackle when Walsall's Steve Jones looked set to equalise.
Legge, who was close to going out on loan prior to the loan deadline on Thursday, said he knew he could play at this level and hoped to keep his place in the team even after the return of James Wilson, who was suspended, and Pim Balkestein, who was not allowed to play by parent club Ipswich Town.
"They were thinking about putting me out on loan," explained Legge. "But they had a change of heart and decided I would play at centre back today with Alan Bennett.
"I was told if I did well I would keep my place.
"I don't think I can do any more than I did today.
"All I want to do is play football, I think I did well and it was good to be out there from the off.
"I know in myself I can play at this level, I don't know what more I could do - I scored and was named Man of the Match [by the sponsors].
"Hopefully I will be back in on Tuesday, it gives the manager something to think about."
