Bees Manager Andy Scott expects to complete the formalities today which will secure the services of Ipswich Town central defender Tommy Smith initially on a one month`s loan.

The 19 year old 6`1" defender progressed through the Suffolk club`s Academy and also represented England in the U18s World Cup in Korea.

This season he has made ten appearances in all for Ipswich including one as a substitute before injuring his hand in training.

Andy Scott said: "Tommy`s another player who we have been keeping an eye on for some while and is a player with a lot of potential. We hope his time with us will help him fulfil the promise he has shown previously and in turn help him with his ambitions to represent New Zealand in the World Cup Finals this summer."
