PITCH UPDATE

Posted on: Thu 14 Jan 2010

Following a night of less severe temperatures than we have been experiencing of recent and the rain which has been falling for a few hours, the prospects for Saturday`s match against Carlisle United going ahead are very encouraging.

The pitch on the near Braemar Road side is quite soft under yesterday`s fresh snow whilst the pitch on the far New Road side is very wet with a good deal of give in the pitch.

Currently the original snow, and the snow which fell yesterday morning is in the process of being cleared from the New Road side of the ground whilst the fresh snow on the near side (which had been cleared of snow earlier in the week) is disappearing and melting because of the rain.

The rest of today will be spent clearing the whole pitch of any remaining snow whilst tomorrow "The Blotter" will be put into action to rid the pitch of any surplus water.

The Football Club would like to thank all the volunteers who have so far given freely of their time and those who are in place should they be required later today once we have been able to source some more shovels and spades.
