Brentford manager Andy Scott said his team should have beaten Southampton at Griffin Park.

The Bees earned a share of a the spoils thanks to a Leon Legge goal but it was only the heroics of visiting goalkeeper Kelvin Davis that denied Scott's men the win.

The Bees' boss admitted his team started slowly, and put it down to a lack of belief in the early stages, but said a point was the least they deserved.

"We should have won," said Scott. "But that's life, sometimes you don't get what you deserve.

"Getting a point is better than getting nothing when it looked like we would be frustrated.

"After the first 15 minutes I feel we had the better chances, and more chances.

"We can walk away with our heads held high and maybe be a bit disappointed we haven't got three points.

"Their keeper made a couple of good saves we had a couple off the line and you think it's not going to be your day when he saves a penalty.

"But we kept plugging away, we have a strong will to win and determination, and a belief we could win the game, after the first 15 minutes.

"We didn't have that belief from the start, if we had we would have won the game.

"It's another part of the learning process and we have shown we are capable of mixing it with the bigger teams."

Scott confirmed John Bostock had returned to Tottenham Hotspur, and his loan spell was over, while deals to sign Toumani Diagouraga and Tommy Smith on longer loan deals were being worked on.

"If the right player comes up then great, the board have backed me and the management staff" he added. "They know we go the right way about things.

"They have backed me so far and I know they will again.

"We can't compete [financially] with the big teams in this league but we like to think we can out there, on the pitch."
