Brentford manager Andy Scott said the decision to call off the game at Oldham Athletic was the right one.
The Bees boss had a close look at the Boundary Park pitch before retuning to London following referee Tony Bates' decision to postpone the game due to a frozen pitch and said the official had made the correct decision.
"It was very hard down the side of the main stand," said Scott. "And there wasn't any sunlight getting to that area.
"I can see why the game was called off.
"That side was where the frost sheets were so it was obviously colder than anticipated.
"When we got there about a third of the pitch was very hard.
"It's very frustrating, we want to play games, we are doing well and it is better to get these trips out of the way.
"But it's a game we have to re-arrange.
"Having said that, with the break we had followed by the games coming thick and fast it's another opportunity to rest the legs.
"We have a reserve game on Monday and we can play a few people that haven't played recently.
"We will have a strong side out there and by the time everyone is training on Thursday for the game against Gillingham next Saturday everyone will be fully match fit."
Scott also update the official website on the players the club has on loan.
He said he was still in dialogue with Arsenal about extending the loan of Wojciech Szczesny, whose spell at the club expires this weekend, and there will be further discussions on Monday with Huddersfield Town over new loanee Lionel Ainsworth, who signed for a month earlier this week.
He added: "We are hopeful [Ipswich Town loanee] Tommy Smith will be staying with us for a period.
"Probably not until the end of the season, but for 93 days."
