Brentford manager Andy Scott described his team's 4-0 win over Gillingham as a "good day's work".

The victory - which equalled the biggest of Scott's reign - was secured thanks to a brace of Charlie MacDonald penalties and two goals from Myles Weston.

Scott said it was "very satisfying" but stressed it was still only three points at stake, like any other League One fixture.

"It was important to get the win," said Scott. "With not playing last weekend we had to get back into it.

"After a dodgy first couple of minutes we were in control of the game.

"It was a good win. It was a good day's work.

"Having a couple of new players in the side made it a bit tough.

"We planned to exploit their weaknesses and the game plan worked a treat.

"We knew they would come and try to intimidate us and make it a battle but we have to do it our way and we stuck to our game plan.

It was a difficult pitch to play on but we played the conditions and the opposition perfectly."

Scott said Marcus Bean missed out as he had an injury that had been affecting him for a while but he hailed the contribution of Toumani Diagouraga and Kevin O'Connor in the centre of midfield.

"Toumani and Kevin were excellent," he continued. "It's a tough one for me to pick the subs from nine or ten at the moment.

"I told the lads before they went out it is their shirt and they have to keep it.

"We have a team confident of winning every game.

"We are capable of causing an upset and no-one relishes playing us.

"If we continue in this vein we will get to our target of 52 points pretty quickly and we will push higher."
