Brentford manager Andy Scott said it would have been a "travesty" if his team had not got at least a point from their match against Milton Keynes Dons.
The Bees came from behind three times - and struck their point-saving equaliser four minutes into stoppage time - but Scott said his players were disappointed they had not won.
He said it showed the character and quality of his players to come back three times - through goals by Sam Wood, Ben Strevens and Carl Cort - particularly when they fell behind in stoppage time.
Scott said: "It would have been a travesty if we had lost.
"We are disappointed we only got a point, [given] the way we played.
"After the first 20 minutes we were by far the better side, we gave them few opportunities.
"When you get kicked in the teeth, good sides get up and go again - that's what we did and we had to do it twice in the second half.
"It's difficult to pick up the tempo immediately but we did that and got back into the game.
"It's nearly what we did to them at their place [when Brentford struck late through Charlie MacDonald, their only shot, to earn a 1-0 win just before Christmas].
"We deserved a point and probably deserved three, but that's life."
Scott said he felt Ryan Dickson was singled out for rough treatment by the Dons players but said the players had to deal with that sort of occurrence.
"We have to fight against adversity," he continued. "Whether there are fouls going unpunished or when people should be getting book and they're not, that's life.
"We have to rely on the referee to do his job, he sees it as best as he sees it and we have to get on with it.
"We can't let outside influences influence our play.
"Today we kept going, even when we went 3-2 down there was a real belief we would get something out of it.
"It was justice really."
Scott admitted Wojciech Szczesny was disappointed at dropping a throw in for MK's first goal and failing to deal with a cross for their third but said it would help him in the long run.
"Wojciech has saved us in many a game," Scott added. "He made an honest mistake today, he will get over it.
"We are all in it together.
"Wojciech is disappointed but this is a learning curve for everyone, there is no blame attached to him.
"The lads have forgotten it."
