Marcus Bean said his Brentford team were on top of their game for 90 minutes against Huddersfield Town.
Bean, who captained the side for the first time, said The Bees had played well in patches before but not put together a performance like that this season.
"I thought the boys dominated from start to finish," said Bean. "Most of the season we have played well in spurts.
"For the full 90 minutes it was spot on.
"We have not lost too many against teams at the top of the table this season.
"In recent weeks we have also started to play well against teams in and around us.
"If we keep this up we will be a force to be reckoned with at the end of this season and next.
"We stepped down on them [after the first goal], put them under pressure and they folded."
Bean said it was a great honour to be named captain and thought it gave his game a boost.
"I think it added to my performance," said Bean. "I thought I was better than I have been in recent weeks.
"I enjoyed the game and being captain.
"Kevin [O'Connor] is captain but I will take it again if he is not available."
