Brentford have today confirmed four pre-season friendlies with the chance of two further games still to be announced.
They kick off their pre season programme with a eagerly awaited home game at Griffin Park for Kevin O`Connor`s Testimonial on Wednesday 14th July against Premiership side Fulham. However the match is subject to the completion of the pitch renovations.
Both Kevin and the Testimonial Committee are delighted to have been able to welcome such prestigious opponents particularly given the fact that this will be Fulham`s first appearance back on a football pitch in London since their momentous achievement in reaching the UEFA Cup Final earlier this month, the only British club to reach a European Final in the season just gone. They extend their thanks to Roy Hodgson for bringing his Fulham side to Griffin Park on the occasion of Kevin`s Testimonial.
This will be the first time Brentford have played Fulham since the 1997/98 season.
Older Bees fans will hold happy memories of a former meeting between the two clubs back in the 1991/92 season, when The Bees were marching on to the Third Division Championship. In our final home game of the season, a crowd of 12,071 packed in to Griffin Park to witness a 4-0 demolition of our near neighbours, with Dean Holdsworth, Gary Blissett, Marcus Gayle and Simon Ratcliffe all finding the net in the first half!
Last season was probably the most successful in Fulham`s history finishing 12th in the Premiership, reaching the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup as well as reaching the UEFA Cup Final where they lost 2-1, after extra time, to Athletico Madrid.
Full details regarding admission prices for the Testimonial will be available shortly.
On Saturday 17th July the Bees travel to take on Ryman Premier side Tonbridge Angels, the club from whom Bees "Player of the Year" Leon Legge was signed twelve months ago.
Tuesday 20th July will see Wycombe Wanderers make a return visit to Griffin Park whilst ten days later, on Friday 30th July, Brentford complete their pre season programme of friendlies with a home game against Championship side Crystal Palace.
All three home matches will kick off at 8pm.
Brentford hope to announce the two additional away pre season friendlies next week.
