Andy Scott added yet another piece of the jigsaw this afternoon as Brentford secured the services of 21 year old Michael Spillane from Norwich City on a 2 year contract.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, can operate across defence and in central midfield.
He made his Norwich City debut in January 2006 in the third round FA Cup tie against West Ham United at Carrow Road and with that became the youngest ever Norwich City player to appear in the FA Cup at the age of 16.
Spillane went out on loan to League Two side Luton Town in August 2008 for the 2008-09 campaign and made 48 appearances, scoring four times. During this time Spillane won the Republic of Ireland Under-19 Player of the Year Award in March 2009.
Last season he scored his first Norwich City goal in the 4-0 win over Leyton Orient at Carrow Road in September 2009. The very next game against Bristol Rovers, Spillane pulled his hamstring and missed the following four months of the season. He ended the season with 15 appearances under his belt.
Spillane is Andy Scott's 6th summer signing after the captures of Craig Woodman, Kirk Hudson, Nicky Forster, Simon Royce and Richard Lee.
