Scottish central defender David McCracken caught up with www.brentfordfc.co.uk after his first pre-season training session last week.
McCracken signed on a free transfer from Milton Keynes Dons said "I'm delighted to have signed for the club. Brentford showed the most interest and I know Andy Scott was interested in signing me last year before I signed for MK Dons. I was pleased he came back in for me this summer and this finally gives me a chance to work with him."
Talking of the chances for the new season he said "The gaffer has signed a few players this summer. I think Brentford was expected to just hang in there last season. The club showed the potential to kick on and they had a great second half of the season. We want to kick on once again, get a good start to the season and see just where it takes us".
Asked what qualities he brought to the club he said "Being a centre back I feel confident communicating and organising. I can help out at the back and bring some experience to the team."
He continued "I played against Brentford twice last season. Brentford is always a hard game. Charlie MacDonald was on fire at the time and it was certainly tough marking him. There are a number of players who have already impressed me during the short time we have ben training so that is a good sign."
Asked about the qualities of team mate Craig Woodman, who McCracken played with at Wycombe he commented "I played with Craig for the best part of two years. He is a steady consistent left back with good quality on the ball. He is very hard to beat and I am sure he will bring good qualities to the club. I am really looking forward to get the season started."
Check back tomorrow to see an interview with new goalkeeping coach, Simon Royce.
