Brentford Football Club has today announced that central defender Alan Bennett has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent and has subsequently joined League Two side Wycombe Wanderers on a one year deal having spent two loans spells at Adams Park last season.
28 year old Alan who initially joined Brentford from Reading on loan in March 2008 and saw that loan extended for the whole season in 2008/09 before signing a permanent deal at the end of that season, made a total of 75 appearances for the Club scoring two goals including the opening goal at Darlington, a game which was to clinch the League Two Championship in April 2009.
Bees Manager Andy Scott said: "Alan was an integral part of the side that achieved promotion in 2009. Unfortunately since then his opportunities to progress have been limited and I think it's in the best interest of both parties that we have today reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. I wish Alan all the very best in his future career and would like to thank him for his efforts during his time with us."
