Brentford manager Andy Scott said he was "very pleased" with his team in their 1-1 pre-season draw with Crystal Palace.

The Bees had the better of the first half and lead through Nicky Forster but Palace levelled in the second half.

Scott said: "I was very pleased, it was a good work out.

"There were different tests in the two halves.

"We were threatening in the first half and had good breakaways in the second and good chances.

"Myles Weston missed a couple of good chances and Michael Spillane had a free header, we had several chances that we could have scored from, but it's a case of putting it in the net.

"We are creating more chances and the forward play is good.

"We got in good areas and our tempo was good, defensively we looked very solid.

"I felt Simon Moore was fouled for the goal, but that's an experience he will learn from.

"He has done well."

Scott said Sam Wood was only ever going to play 45 minutes as he has a tight hamstring and he was hopeful Carl Cort and Charlie MacDonald would be fit for the opening day of the season.

He said he thought he had made progress in his quest to bring more players to the club, but admitted the players may still not arrive, and said former loan defender Pim Balkestein had been training with his team.

He added: "There are a few sides that want Pim, we are trying to kidnap him and we are hopeful we can get something concluded.

"We are in discussions with Ipswich [Town, Balkestein's former club,] as we had an agreement following his loan, but we have a good relationship so we think we can get it sorted."

Scott said in terms of fitness his team were exactly where he wanted them to be a week before the start of the season but admitted in terms of personnel they were not quite there.

"We want to get the season started," he added.
