Loan forward Robbie Simpson said he was delighted with the start he had made to his Brentford career.
The Huddersfield Town man, who joined on a season-long loan deal just over 24 hours before the start of the new season, scored the opening goal on his full début - a 2-1 Carling Cup win over Cheltenham Town.
He stressed he was fully committed to the club for the duration of his loan deal and although he had friends at the Yorkshire club would be thinking of nothing but Brentford for the next nine months.
"I'm delighted with the start to be honest," said Simpson. "It's a shame I couldn't get any more goals, I had opportunities.
"It was a great ball in [for my goal].
"Craig [Woodman] had put a couple in before that, luckily for me [this one] came over the heads of [Nicky Forster and Gary Alexander] and fell right on my head.
"It came at an important time.
"Cheltenham weren't threatening at all in the first half.
"Craig [Woodman] got a great free kick for the second goal and that really set us up.
"Second half, I don't know what it was, but we didn't step our performance up, we sat a bit too deep and let them back into the game.
"But a win is a win and we can build on it."
Simpson said he had a few memorable nights in the Carling Cup - including being part of a Coventry City team that beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in 2007 - and was looking forward to a run in the competition.
He said he knew of Brentford's interest in him earlier this summer and wanted to do pre-season at Huddersfield but was convinced he had made the right move after discussions with manager Andy Scott.
He added: "The manager at Huddersfield [Lee Clark] decided to bring in new players and told me he wanted me to get games after my injuries last season.
"I'm a Brentford player this season, that is all that is in my head.
"I'm contracted to Huddersfield for the next two years [but Brentford is my focus]."
