MAC "OFF AND RUNNING"

Posted on: Mon 23 Aug 2010

Striker Charlie MacDonald said if Brentford had lead at half time in their game against Swindon Town they would have won.

The front man got off the mark for the campaign in the early stages of the 1-1 draw but the hosts hit back to level just before the break.

MacDonald said: "They started with a lot of possession but didn't really hurt us.

"We sucker punched them a little bit for our goal but we played some good stuff but then conceded a goal where we didn't win the second header.

"If we go in at half time up, I think it would have [deflated] them.

"We had a lot more chances, we probably deserved to win the game.

"It's pleasing that it gets us off and running."

Speaking about his goal he said: "I thought it was a lost cause and chased it down hoping for a corner or a throw.

"The defender has made a boo boo and tried to head it back when it was never going to reach and the goalkeeper was caught in no man's land.

"It's pleasing to get a goal like that.

"It gets me off and running and it got the team off and running on the day.

"We are going in the right direction.

"We had a performance for 90 minutes rather than just 45.

"We have come here and given a good account of ourselves."
